Cate Strom (nee Stephanie Wilson Cate) was born into a creative family of writers, musicians and artists. Raised in Paris, France until she was fourteen, she later relocated with family to Los Angeles, California. She then moved to the East Coast to study painting at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston.
Monumental architecture and especially places of worship have always held a great fascination for her. Her travels to places such as India, Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), Jerusalem, Italy and France have provided much of the poetic, architectural and spiritual subjects infused in her work. Cate’s mixed-media process combines photographic transfers, painting and collage to create her unique imagery.

Cate now currently lives and works in the Washington DC area.
